Officially known as Risborough Green, the Dump is a fairly nondescript recreation ground. It’s nickname comes from the the Second World war, when it was used to store rubble from bombed buildings.
It would eventually be covered in soil and became the large grassy mound that it is today, but with a good amount of scrub around the edges. Located within a 1930s housing estate, this has made it a House Sparrow hotspot.
