Spring normally brings a variety of species to Sparrowfeld. Some will spend the whole summer here, while others will be passage migrants, making their way further north or west.
Of those birds that spend the breeding season here, Blackcap and Chiffchaff are the most numerous, with territories around the patch normally in double figures. A Whitethroat territory or two can also be found most years. On the Mayflower Park wetlands it is common for Reed Warbler to have at least 8 territories. A colony of swifts can be seen interacting over the wetlands most summers.
