There are approximately 50 species that can been seen all year round on Sparrowfeld. ‘Standard counts’, taking around two hours on a pre-set walk, are conducted by a some of our birdwatchers throughout the year. These normally average about 35 species.
Most of our common woodland and garden birds can be found on the patch. The Horse Fields, two Brooks, and Mayflower Park wetlands other birds that increase the overall numbers. Most days you are likely to see at least one bird of prey, often perched on a pylon or the gas holders, or circling above.
