A total of 135 species have been spotted on the patch since 1960. 121 of these have been observed since 2006, when the Hamptons and Mayflower Park were opened. Due to the diversity of habitats, about fifty species can be seen regularly all year round. Over the course of a year, we will normally record 80+ different birds. The difference is mostly made up by spring/summer migrants that either breed on the patch or are passing through. Similarly, in winter, certain species are attracted to Sparrowfeld on account of its habitats and climate. As is to be expected, the odd rarity turns up every so often.
